COUNTY HOSTS USAID AMPATH UZIMA ON PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP FOR QUALITY HEALTHCARE

The County Government of Uasin Gishu is in discussion with USAID Amphath UZIMA on public-private partnerships to improve healthcare.

County Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health, Dr. Paul Wangwe, led a meeting with the partners, on Tuesday.

The focus of the partnership was on enhancing the supply of drugs, improving the monitoring of the supply chain, ensuring optimal stocking balances, and optimizing the Health Products and Technologies Unit (HPTU) within the county’s health system.

After the meeting, field visits to various health facilities which include Moi’s Bridge, Plateau, and Kapsoya to obtain the status of the facilities.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr Wangwe noted that the visit to the health facilities was part of a routine inspection to evaluate the quality of services, identify any challenges or gaps in healthcare provision, and gather feedback from healthcare practitioners and patients.

“By physically visiting these facilities by the team, it will guide us as a department in understanding the realities and needs of the healthcare system at the grassroots level,” said Dr Wangwe.

The engagement with Amphath and the County Government of Uasin Gishu underscores the collaborative efforts for public-private partnerships for the benefit of the local community.

The CO added: “The collaboration simplifies a united commitment towards improving healthcare delivery and ensuring the well-being of the residents of Uasin Gishu County.” Director Dr Evans Kiprotich also attended the meeting.
