COUNTY FETES 68 RETIREES IN A POMP AND COLOURFUL CELEBRATION

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, EGH, on Thursday, acknowledged the dedication and service of senior staff, saying “they are the reason Uasin Gishu has developed this far.’

The county head recognized their dedicated years of service, as a very important resource, during a party for 68 retirees who have worked in public service for between 30 and years.

Dr.Bii reiterated that the 68 retirees who are exiting service, have duly fulfilled their constitutional mandate. “Today we are celebrating your service in a special way.”

The Governor added: “The end of something is the beginning of something else and retirement is the beginning of an open highway of freedom; you are going into a chapter of freedom, that you have been working for so many years, following rules and regulations and now you have space to make decisions on what to do, ” said Dr. Bii.

” You are never too young to retire and if you should, never retire your mind because you are entering a new arena, ” said Dr. Bii.

The County head thanked all the retirees for giving all their strengths, and bringing up ideas and singled out the longest-working retiree who worked out in the service for 43 years, Mrs Roida Afande Asambu who served at the Department of Agriculture and Amina Galgalo, a cleaning supervisor who also worked for the longest time.

Deputy Speaker, Sarah Malel, on her part, appreciated the retirees for their exemplary work, and discipline that kept them in service for over 30 years.

Hon Malel appreciated the retirees for their services and commended that it was an opportunity to serve in the county. “So many people are jobless, and that you served for all those years, means you exhibited great dedication.”

County Secretary Mr Edwin Bett thanked the retirees for their services.
“It is very easy to serve but not so easy to serve for a long time, we value and appreciate you for serving diligently and having delivered to our people, ” said Bett.

County Executive Committee Member for Public Service Management Elijah Kosgey congratulated the retirees for working and ensuring that Uasin Gishu County moves forward. He assured them that their pensions would be processed fast.

County Public Service Board Chair, Ms. Fransisca Boen appreciated the retirees from all departments and acknowledged their hard work during service. “You are starting a new journey, as a blank paper where you are making a fresh start, altogether.”

The retirees were awarded certificates of service and a token of appreciation.

Present were Members of the County Assembly, County Executives, Chief Officers, Directors and other County Staff.
