PROVISION OF MARKET AMENITIES, KEY IN ENHANCING TRADE – LAGAT

The County Department of Trade and Industrialization will continue providing key amenities needed towards the enhancement of trade to realize the growth of economies amongst traders.

According to Director for Trade Isaac Lagat, the provision of these amenities and general improvement of market infrastructure is in line with Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s plan for traders to have access to markets.

While leading the Cheptiret market management committee to a benchmarking tour in Langas and Kahoya markets, Kesses Sub County trade officer Collins Baraza said the move was to see them interact with their counterpart market management teams and learn best operational practices of their markets among others.

“Cheptiret market does very well on their revenue collection but we saw it necessary to have the committee share ideas with other committees of other markets so that they can rate themselves,” explained Baraza.

Baraza also added that; “It was an opportunity for them to note areas that they need to improve for the betterment of the market operations going forward.”

The Department of Trade will carry on with the initiative for the management committees across the markets to share best practices to see the county markets operate with ease.
