GOVERNOR BII GRACES INTERNATIONAL CEOs SUMMIT, NOTES STRIDES HIS GOVERNMENT HAS ACHIEVED IN CO-OPS SECTOR

My administration has so far disbursed sh 682m to over 254 Cooperative societies and Saccos to enable them to be financially viable and grow economically.

This was the statement of Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Jonathan Bii on Monday evening when he hosted the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) on an International CEOs Summit led by Billy Johnny and Morris Smith.

ACCOSCA are in the region to visit Boresha, Imarisha and Kenya Police Saccos for their excellence in services especially on service to the communities.

The Governor said the co-ops in the county have been capacity build to improve governance, promote entrepreneurship skills among other managerial aspects.

Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro and Small Enterprise Simon Chelugui lauded the delegation for choosing to visit the saccos challenging the other entities to follow suit and work to see that communities benefit from their programs.

“Through the saccos we can touch all the sectors and it is for this reason that we can make a difference in our region.I call on the CECMs to work together,support co-ops in our counties so that we can benefit together as a region,” said Chelugui

The ACCOSCA’s visit to the region seeks also to engage with Co-op leader, MSMEs and Saccos on among others, capacity building for co-ops members, value addition in the agricultural value chain, financial support to upscale automation of co-ops.

Heads and CEOs of established Co-ops in US, Europe and Africa formed part of the high level delegation.

Governor’s Stephen Sang(Nandi) Wisley Rotich(Elgeyomarakwet), Simon Kachapin(Pokot), County Commissioners Eddyson Nyale, various MCAs, CECMS, COs were among present.
