GOVERNOR BII CALLS ON RESIDENTS TO BRAND UG AS BEST DESTINATION AS TOURISM DAY IS MARKED

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has called on county residents to advocate for climate change and take the lead in marketing the county as the best tourism destination.

Speaking on Wednesday at the county headquarters during the commemoration of World Tourism Day themed ‘Tourism and Green Investment’ Governor Bii noted that his administration place strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and responsible practices within the Tourism sector.

“We are committed to promote Tourism and showcase out county as potential tourism destination by developing Kesses Dam into a water base tourism attraction.

The Governor further hinted that the county arboretum which has a gazebo and a watch tower with a unique place for relaxing will soon be open to the members of public.

During the event, the county boss led other top county leadership in a walk to Sosiani river and amusement park for a tree planting exercise acknowledging collaboration efforts by tourism development partners on conservation of the ecosystem.

stakeholders drawn from Kenya Forestry, Tourism Regulatory Authority, Tourism Fund, Education institutions pledged for collaborations to see the sector vibrant.

County Executive Committee Members for Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development (Martha Cheruto), Youth and Sports(Eng Lucy Ngendo), Dr Edward Serem (Environment and Water) Tourism Chief Officer Geoffrey Tanui, Directors Margaret Aiyabei(Tourism) and Kipleting Mengich (Trade) were among present.
