Uasin Gishu County Secretary Mr Edwin Bett on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with the National Anti-Corruption Steering Committee which wishes to partner with the county government to jointly implement anti-graft awareness campaign strategies and activities.

The National Anti-Corruption Campaign Steering Committee(NACCSC) is mandated to undertake nationwide public education, sensitization and awareness creation campaigns aimed at effecting fundamental change in the attitudes, behaviour, practises and culture of Kenyans towards corruption.

The CS emphasised the need for the Committee to facilitate the implementation of the anti-corruption awareness creation campaign activities at the grassroots and fully empower them to fight and prevent corruption.

“There is a need to engage the people during public participation, mobilize the public to attend sensitization forums and meetings organised by the county government to get their views, “said Bett.

According to County Attorney, Stephen Lel, the county government has made laws with guidelines to fight corruption.

Markaba Yarrow and David Murigi from the National Anti-Corruption Campaign Steering Committee and the County Anti-Corruption Civilian Committee (CACCOCs) were among those present during the meeting.
