Uasin Gishu County Governor H.E. Jonathan Bii Chelilim today led a delegation including the World Bank mission team, the National Project Coordination Team, and local officials on a site visit to assess progress under the Second Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative has facilitated significant infrastructure development in Eldoret, including road construction, drainage systems, ablution blocks, and green spaces. Additionally, high mast lights have been completed in several areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Bii highlighted the transformative impact of KISIP, referencing the success of KISIP1 in enhancing residents’ livelihoods. \u201cOnce completed, these projects will help establish a 24-hour economy in our city. As the home of champions, we must prepare for future upgrades,\u201d he stated. He also emphasized the opportunity KISIP provides for residents in informal settlements to build permanent structures, boosting their income potential through rent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Governor urged for future funding to enhance River Sosiani, envisioning it as a model waterfront for Eldoret City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

World Bank Task Team Leader Ms. Beatriz Eraso praised the ongoing projects in Maili Nne, Shauri, and Mwanzo settlements, asserting their potential to positively impact generations. She emphasized the importance of public awareness and timely resolution of grievances to avoid project delays.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

KISIP2 National Project Coordinator George Arwa commended the progress and reminded contractors to adhere to timelines and specifications in the project agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Janeth Kosgei, County Executive Committee member for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, acknowledged the effective collaboration among stakeholders, which has facilitated smooth project implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
