The County Government of Uasin Gishu marked a significant milestone on Friday as they conducted the second recovery graduation ceremony for individuals grappling with alcohol addiction at the Moiben Rehabilitation Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrating the successful completion of a three-month free sponsorship program for 12 individuals who have successfully rehabilitated from their alcohol dependence, the initiative was made possible through Governor, H.E Dr. Jonathan Bii nguzo Kumi’s prioritization of curbing alcohol consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the graduation ceremony, Health Services County Executive Committee Member Dr. Abraham Serem praised the efforts of the 12 individuals who had undergone a transformative journey towards sobriety, highlighting that the participants in the program had not only received alcohol counselling but had also been equipped with essential skills in business entrepreneurship as part of a holistic approach to their recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking passionately about the initiative, Dr. Serem noted that the Nguzo kumi initiative spearheaded by Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii aims to uplift communities and individuals in need across the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I want to emphasize that Moiben has been selected as a flagship rehabilitation centre within the county with plans underway in collaboration with the County Assembly to establish similar centres in each sub-county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This strategic expansion will ensure that more individuals in need of rehabilitation services have access to support closer to their communities,” said Dr Serem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CECM further noted that Moiben Rehabilitation Centre is a fully registered facility that has welcomed individuals from all corners of Uasin Gishu County, including youth and residents employed within the county and the success of this rehabilitation centre stands is a testament to the county’s commitment to addressing alcohol addiction and providing a haven for those seeking recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County Assembly Health Committee Chair Hon. Rebecca Magut noted that the successful graduation of 12 individuals from the Moiben Rehabilitation Centre serves as a beacon of hope for others battling alcohol addiction within Uasin Gishu County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As the County Assembly we will support the budget that sees the young generation benefit from such programs,” said Hon. Magut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further called on the Alcoholic Drinks Control Board to enhance their assessment by ensuring that all the Sub Counties are accommodated because they want a sober city further making a plea to the parents to support the youth who have accepted themselves and seek rehabilitation programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
