Chief Officer for Agriculture, Mr. Elphas Kesio, has urged young people to explore innovative business ventures that address unmet market needs, particularly within the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during his visit to AfriProt, an innovative farm founded by Mr. Collins Sirmah in Outspan, Ngeria Ward, Mr Kesio noted the impact of sustainable agriculture through rearing Black Soldier Fly larvae sourced from organic fruit waste collected from local markets in the City of Eldoret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The larvae, rich in protein, serve as a nutritious feed for chickens, pigs, and fish, while the farm also produces frass, a high-quality organic fertilizer. This fertilizer is particularly effective for high-value crops like coffee and avocados.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Engaging with Collins, Mr. Kesio highlighted the essential role of technology in modern agriculture. Collins shared how platforms such as YouTube have been instrumental in his success, helping him transform waste into valuable resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“YouTube has been my teacher, guiding me on how to turn waste into wealth,” Collins explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He encouraged young people to tap into the vast resources available online, noting, “Technology opens doors to countless opportunities, and I urge the youth to take full advantage of it.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Kesio echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of innovation in tackling agricultural challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe must inspire our youth to think creatively, take calculated risks, and venture into businesses that offer sustainable solutions to today’s agricultural issues,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kapseret Sub-County Agricultural Officer Ms. Margret Shadiva, alongside the Ngeria Ward Agricultural Officer ( Name), accompanied Mr. Kesio during the visit. They reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to promoting innovative agricultural practices and empowering young entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Officer emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies, farmers, and entrepreneurs to build a resilient agricultural ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe aim to support more initiatives like AfriProt, which align with Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s vision for sustainable development in the County,\u201d Mr. Kesio affirmed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

AfriProt also produces a nitrogen-rich liquid fertilizer that serves as a biostimulant for a variety of crops. Currently, the farm employs six to nine individuals, contributing to local job creation and economic growth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
