The County Department of Agriculture in partnership with the Society of Crop Agribusiness Advisers of Kenya (SOCCAA) on Wednesday commenced a three-day meeting to refine the Agribusiness Zero Draft Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This consultation brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including farmers, industry experts, and Government officials, to gather essential information for developing a comprehensive agribusiness strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Mr. Edward Sawe emphasized the importance of collaboration and stakeholder input in shaping the agribusiness landscape in the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agribusiness strategy’s objectives focus on dismantling barriers to agribusiness growth and fostering a favourable environment for private sector investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strategy aims to eliminate obstacles hindering agribusiness development while creating incentives that encourage private investments in the sector, It also seeks to invest public resources more strategically to catalyze growth within agribusiness, make agribusiness systems more competitive, adaptable, and flexible to respond effectively to changing market dynamics And also foster institutional structures that enable all stakeholders to exploit various market opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Officer for Agriculture Mr. Elphas Kesio, underlines the critical importance of stakeholder collaboration in the successful implementation of the agribusiness strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Once finalized, the draft policy will be presented to the cabinet for review and forwarded to the County assembly for approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directors Joel Rutto (Agribusiness) Kenneth Kili Agriculture, Edna Kemei (Fisheries) and Deputy Director Ismael Asowa Agribusiness were present during the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
