Residents of Kamukunji in Kuinet\/Kapsuswa, Soy Sub-County received a boost on Monday with the distribution of pigs, fish pond liners, and multi-story garden setups from Uasin Gishu county Department of Livestock Development and Fisheries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative, aimed at supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the region, demonstrates the County’s commitment to enhancing livelihoods and fostering agricultural development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Livestock Chief Officer Mr. Nixon Cheplong, accompanied by area Member of the County Assembly Hon. Rebecca Chepchirchir, led the distribution exercise at Kamukunji estate, overseeing the allocation of resources to local farmers and groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 10 groups benefited from the program, with each group receiving four pigs, 20 farmers receiving multi-story garden setups, and liners provided to an additional 10 groups for their fish ponds.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The initiative forms part of Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration’s efforts to empower farmers residing in urban areas, promoting sustainable agricultural practices that require minimal space and are easy to maintain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By equipping SMEs with the necessary resources and tools, the county aims to enhance economic opportunities, improve food security, and promote self-sufficiency within the community living in urban areas” said Cheplong.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The distribution of livestock and agricultural resources not only supports local entrepreneurs but also underline the county Government’s dedication to fostering inclusive growth and prosperity across diverse sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
