County Executive Committee Member for Water Dr. Sam Kottut outlined Governor Jonathan Bii’s plans to enhance water distribution coverage by the end of the year with the aim of making water accessible to all residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Kottut spoke on Wednesday during the public consultation forum on the Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company ( ELDOWAS) sewer and water tariff review at the County Hall where he embraced the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved in the exercise by highlighting the need for access to the fundamental resource of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Water scarcity in our county will soon be a thing of the past because we are working on expanding water pans, equipping the already drilled boreholes to benefit many county residents, ” said Dr. Kottut.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

County Secretary Mr. Edwin Bett has emphasized the County Government’s commitment to providing potable and accessible water to every household in the County by enhancing its distribution infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to water resources for all residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ELDOWAS Managing Director (MD) Peter Biwott said they are working tirelessly to ensure that the consumers of the commodity are supplied with enough water noting that they currently produce at least 43 million meters cubic of water from the current demand of 65 million cubic meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As a company, we laud Governor Bii because of his commitment to ensuring that Two Rivers, and Kipkaren dams among others are equipped to support other areas with enough supply of water” added Biwott.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Allan Sogomo, representing the Chief Executive Officer of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency, highlighted their efforts across Uasin Gishu, Turkana, West Pokot, and Trans Nzoia Counties in advancing sewer and water tariffs therefore improving livelihoods and fostering sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe appreciate the efforts of ELDOWAS to maintain and improve our water and sanitation infrastructure. However, we must also consider the impact of any tariff increases on the most vulnerable members of our community.\u201d said a resident<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The proposed tariff adjustments were justified based on the necessity to overhaul ageing pipelines, the need to expand water distribution infrastructure to reach more residents, and service debts incurred from the development of water and sewer assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tariff review also aims to address the increasing operational costs associated with maintaining and enhancing water and sewer services in the County.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
