Uasin Gishu Governor Dr Jonathan Bii EGH has disclosed that he will allocate Ksh 1 million to every Ward, as bursaries for needy students to enrol on Vocational Training Centres in the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funds, which will be a total of Ksh 30 million, will go to sponsoring students to study technical skills in the 13 county-run VTCs and centres of excellence across the six Sub-Counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking in Kuinet\/Kapsuswa, Kiplombe and Huruma Wards in Soy and Turbo Sub-Counties respectively, during the ongoing disbursement of bursaries at the Ward level on Monday, Governor Bii said inadequate school fees would, therefore, no longer be an excuse for a lack of training on skills and the exploitation of talents that would lead to self-employment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Bii said his administration was keen on ensuring that it channelled resources into supporting the VTCs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The County boss noted that TVET is one of the most successful programs that is impacting the youth by providing solutions to problems through innovation while calling upon the youth to embrace TVETS as a key to achieving economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his part, County Executive Committee Member for Education, Anthony Sitienei said: “Let parents enrol their children to learn important skills and take advantage of the available bursaries so we can grow our county.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also called upon students to enrol on VTCs in the upcoming May intake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Chief Officer for Education Marion Birgen called on parents to prioritize their children\u2019s education, terming it the best investment that a parent can undertake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kuinet\/Kapsuswa Ward, 633 students benefited from Ksh 5 million bursary while Kshs 5 million will benefit 829 needy learners in Kiplombe Ward.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Huruma Ward has an allocation of Kshs. 5 million which will benefit 914 students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Governor was accompanied by the Members of the County Assembly Hon. Rebbeca Jepchirchir (Kuinet\/Kapsuswo), Hon. Gilbert Lagat (Kiplombe) and Hon. Peter Wanjohi(Huruma), County Executive Committee Member for Youth and Sports Eng. Lucy Ng’endo and Eng. Martha Cheruto (Trade).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directors for Vocational Training Phyllis Lagat, Wilson Sawe (Administration and Planning), Deputy Directors, Pius Mosbei (Education) Rosyline Kosgei (Education) Julius Tanui (Resource mobilization), Stephen Kemoi (Vocational Training), Turbo Sub-county Administrator James Bett, Kuinet\/ Kapsuswo Ward administrato r, among other county officials, were also present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
