Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii EGH, has raised concerns over the poor performance in national examinations in the county saying its worrying. He has subsequently challenged stakeholders to find a solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the public when he presided over disbursement of bursary cheques to Simat\/Kapseret, Ngeria and Megun wards, Bii said “we need to discuss how we are going to improve results in schools.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also asked teachers to put extra efforts to see that students excel in their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the initiative, 1,167 students in Simat\/Kapseret ward benefited from Kshs.6.9M, Megun Ward 697 from Ksh 4M and Ngeria Ward with 654 from 4M which is part of the total allocation of 165M where 23,330 students from various institutions will benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bii said the move targets to cushion parents and learners who are struggling to raise school fees amidst tough economic times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are here to put smiles on the faces of needy students from the less fortune families who have been spending sleepless nights agonising where their school fees will come from,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Governor Bii also lauded the support from other well-wisher and the National Government for rolling out similar initiatives to support needy students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his part the County Executive Committee Member for Education, Anthony Sitienei asked school principals to acknowledge receipt of the funds and issue receipts to the department of education to enhance accountability and transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The County Government, he added has invested heavily in vocational training to spur economic development in the county by equipping technicals skills to youths hence enabling them to be ready for the available job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
