The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Tuesday hosted an International team of surgeons in a preliminary meeting for the planned ten-day female genital fistula and other gynaecological conditions and surgeries program in a campaign dubbed Campaign 52.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during a courtesy call visit in his office, Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii welcomed the initiative emphasizing the importance of partnerships for the benefit of the residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By participating in campaign 52, the residents have the opportunity to receive specialized treatment and care for gynaecological conditions ultimately leading to an improved quality of life for women in the region,” said Dr. Bii.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The County Boss noted the urgent need to repair the fistula condition in affected girls, young and older women who have suffered from traditional practices like female genital mutilation, rape, early pregnancies, and obstructed labor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I want to call upon all the affected residents to participate in the screening, diagnosis and treatment exercise at the Gynocare Women’s and Fistula Hospital so that they can restore their dignity and quality of their lives,” said the Governor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County Executive for Health Services Dr. Abraham Serem stated that an average of 30 cases of fistula occur annually, therefore affecting the residents’ dignity and livelihoods. He further stressed the importance of regular health checkups to prevent such issues.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Chief Officers Dr. Paul Wangwe (Promotive and Preventive Health)and Dr. Joyce Sang (Clinical Services) noted that the initiative aims to provide essential medical care and improve the overall health and well-being of the residents of Uasin Gishu County by addressing critical health issues and promoting access to quality healthcare services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The surgical camp will specialize in treating various conditions, including female genital fistula, gynaecological conditions, cervical cancer-related fistulas, colostomy, urostomy, appendiceal stoma surgeries, laparoscopic surgeries, pelvic organ prolapse, and haemorrhoids in females.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
