Municipality of Eldoret has been a key beneficiary of the World Bank Funded Programme, Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP)1 and is set to be considered in its second phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planner Solomon Ambwere, from the State Department of Housing and Urban Development today met the County Executive team led by the County Secretary Mr. Edwin Bett, in a sensitization forum that addressed the conditions that must be met to enable the Municipality of Eldoret qualify for the phase 2 of KUSP.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“The programme intends to undertake various programmes and projects that have been devolved which include Transport , Trade, Public Works, Fire fighting, sanitation and cultural activities but the same have to be fully transfered to the Municipality for the Municipality to be considered in the funding,” said Mr. Abwere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C.S Edwin Bett, in agreement said that the county had approved the Integrated Development Plan for the Municipality which will guide in programme implementation. He noted that the conditions for eligibility of the programme would be effected immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County Executive Committee Member for Lands Dr. Janeth Kosgei, in agreement noted that the programme would align its support to projects outlined in the County Integrated Development Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accordingly, the Chair Municipality Board Mr Julius Kitur, assured the state officers of full corporation by the county leadership for the success of the programme including ensuring the full transfer of functions to the Municipality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In agreement, CECM PSM Mr. Elijah Kosgey, said the transfer of functions will be accompanied by transfer of staff with a compulsory inclusion of registered Planner, Engineer, Human Resource, Environment officer, Social safeguards Officer and a Procurement officer will be effected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his remarks, Municipality Manager Mr.Tito Koiyet, noted the success of projects undertaken in KUSP 1 , which placed Municipality of Eldoret among the top 10 Municipalities in the Country in the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have an approved organogram by the County Assembly and a fully fledged staff establishment at the Municipality. We anticipate to meet the new conditions. We have a CPCT team in place ready to implement the projects,” noted Municipality Manager Mr. Tito Koiyet<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
