In a bid to fuel the journey towards sustainable climate resilience development, the County Government of Uasin Gishu on Friday unveiled the County Climate Change Action Plan 2023-2027 developed through a Participatory Climate Risk Assessment conducted across all 30 wards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the launch, Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Dr. Jonathan Bii said that the action plan will heavily influence strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In fulfilling my pre-election promise to ensure equitable access to water supply across the county, I have allocated over one billion shillings this fiscal year to the water sector hence guaranteeing availability of the vital resource,” said the Governor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On his part, the County conservator urged residents to plant trees to achieve 30 percent forest cover by 2032.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environment CECM Dr Sam Kotut noted that the county has planted over 1 million indigenous trees and exotic seedlings through restoration drives with 40,000 seedlings dedicated towards conserving Timboroa among other forests countywide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Action plan is a five-year plan that will be implemented through a rolling one-year plan that will facilitate coordinated development in the county while harnessing synergies presented by the various stakeholders in the county\u2019s development realm,” added Ms Mary Kerich, CO Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
