Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Performance and Delivery Management, Moses Kuria, on Wednesday paid a visit to Uasin Gishu County is part of the Government\u2019s effort to forge a partnership with devolved units in NYS training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kuria met Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, EGH, for a meeting before embarking on a visit to various Vocational Training Centres across the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a media briefing, the CS noted that his Ministry Plans to partner counties in NYS training through VTCs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the partnership, the National Government will partner with the county to revamp VTCs and enable them to provide comprehensive infrastructural development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAdditionally, selected individuals will undergo specialized training under the NYS, transitioning them into small-scale NYS hubs and digital centers,\u201d the CS said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur strategy extends beyond mere training. Projects such as affordable housing, agricultural initiatives, and industrial parks require a skilled workforce. By integrating VTC graduates into the small-scale NYS hubs, we will ensure a pipeline of trained workers,\u201d Kuria said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He further said the VTCs will also serve as recruitment centers for international opportunities, bridging gaps in countries like Saudi Arabia, Germany and Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim EGH on his part admitted that as counties, they have been facing a challenge in equipping the VTCs, which are devolved functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He expressed optimism that will the new partnership, the centers will get the necessary support and funding they have long yearned for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe visit of CS Moses Kuria signifies a turning point for our vocational training colleges. Through this collaboration with the NYS, we anticipate improvements in infrastructure and much-needed support for our institutions. This development is particularly significant for our young people residing in and around our county, as it will provide them with the opportunity to receive quality training right from our vocational training colleges,\u201d the county boss said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also noted that currently, Uasin Gishu has only 13 vocational training centres out of the ideal 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis discrepancy underscores the challenges we have been facing in adequately addressing the needs of our youth. However, with the support and attention brought by CS Moses Kuria’s visit, we are hopeful for positive change and expansion in the near future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later the CS and his team visited Kanetik VTCs of excellence in Agri business Kiwato (textile), Sesia (Welding and fabrication), Sergoit (Food and beverages), Sogorik (Mechanical), Leinguse (Capentry), and Megun (Plumber).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
