The County Government of Uasin Gishu, under the Department of Social Protection, is seeking a partnership with a Dutch organisation (Het Lo Der Blinden) to support a program for visually impaired children (Blind and low vision) in the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lot der Blinden is an organisation based in the Netherlands that runs programs related to visually impaired children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Officer for Social Protection Eunice Suter, welcomed the partnership saying the County is already in the process of constructing a special need assessment centre in Chebolol, Kesses-Sub County.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Upon completion, Suter said, the facility will be helpful to the people living with disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further called upon the organisation to support it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the CO reiterated her commitment to providing an overview of the department saying the vision of the Governor for focusing on the PWDs is on cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director for Social Protection Peter Ruto noted that the partnership was timely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are currently developing a policy for PWDs to mainstream the area. It will be a blueprint to guide the implementation and operations of the program for the PWDs as a tool for a resource mobilizer in the county.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
