The County Government of Uasin Gishu is keen in prioritizing the importance of adhering to good agricultural practices as farmers gear up for the upcoming planting season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Officer for Agriculture, Mr. Elphas Kesio highlighted the significance of adopting modern techniques that reflect Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s commitment to sustainable farming and the well-being of local farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kesio who conducted an inspection exercise at Chebororwa ATC farm emphasized the benefits of embracing modern agricultural practices such as minimum tillage or no-till methods instead of traditional ploughing for preparing maize farms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He encouraged farmers to utilize County machinery at Agricultural Mechanization Services to enhance their farming processes and improve efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CO further called on farmers to avoid excessive ploughing and embrace agricultural practices that can enhance productivity, protect the environment, and secure a prosperous future for themselves and future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The shift towards minimum tillage or no-till farming is gaining momentum due to its numerous advantages, including preserving soil structure, reducing erosion, and enhancing water retention for improved crop yields and long-term sustainability<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026by minimizing soil disturbance, farmers can also contribute to carbon segregation and combat the effects of climate change,” said Kesio.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also encouraged farmers to leverage modern equipment available at the Agricultural Mechanization Services (AMS) to alleviate physical strain and enhance the economic viability of their farming operations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
