The County Government of Uasin Gishu through the Department of Health Services has taken significant strides towards improving healthcare services in line with Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s Nguzo Kumi blueprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through fostering partnerships with institutions and development partners towards improving provision and access to health care services, the County commenced the development of the first-generation County Nutrition Action Plan from 12th -16th February 2024, with financial and technical support from Helen Keller International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a multi-sectoral nutrition action plan which guides the implementation of a nutrition-specific, nutrition-sensitive and enabling environment for nutrition interventions as directed by the conceptual framework of malnutrition and the primary health care model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was graced by the County Executive for Health Services, Dr. Abraham Serem, represented by the Chief Officer for Health Preventive & Promotive Services, Dr. Paul Wangwe, County Director of Health, Dr. Evans Kiprotich and Mr. Wyclife Abade, the Program Officer at Helen Keller International.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Wangwe appreciated Helen Keller International for supporting the development of CNAP and stated that it will accelerate and scale up efforts toward the elimination of malnutrition in the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has drawn multisectoral collaboration from various county departments which include the Department of Agriculture, Economic Planning, Gender and Social Services, Education, Water and Health Services.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Other stakeholders in attendance included Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, USAID AMPATH Uzima Program, the University of Eldoret, Rift Valley Technical Training Institute and Eldoret National Polytechnic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
