The County Government of Uasin Gishu is preparing to sign an Memorandum of Understanding that will see digital learning introduced in ECDEs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County Executive Committee Member for Education, Anthony Sitienei, on Thursday hosted officials from EIDU who paid him a courtesy call to discuss the agreement plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EIDU is an international digital firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Mr Sitienei, the agreement set to be signed soon will enable them to initiate a pilot for digital learning in select ECDE centres across the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said they have already set the foundation in the sector by employing teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a good program. My concern is whether the initiative will only benefit public ECDEs or the learners in the private schools will also be considered,\u201d the Executive said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also called for collaboration with Education officials from the National Government to ensure the success of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Salome Mwaura, the EIDU’s Head of Government Relations, research conducted in institutions that have introduced digital learning indicates that the learners catch up faster than those not introduced to it earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe introduction of digital learning in the ECDEs will improve the learning outcome in the county,\u201d Chief Officer Education, Marion Birgen, said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Once introduced, the county will have access to the platform with ECDE teachers able to give assignments to learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
