The County Government of Uasin Gishu has made progress in the plans to build a honey processing plant in Tarakwa Ward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, the Department received honey processing equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project began with the distribution of over 1500 beehives to the Ogiek consortium, a collaborative effort between the County Government and the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project (KCSAP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This move was aimed at supporting the Ogiek community and encouraging beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Directors Abraham Kiptanui (Livestock), Isack Lagat (Trade), and Kenneth Kili (AMS) conducted an inspection of honey processing equipment at the Agricultural Mechanization Services (AMS) on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of the inspection was to ensure that the necessary processing equipment was prepared for installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The directors expressed their satisfaction with the progress that had been made so far, emphasizing the significance of adding value to the agricultural sector. Director Kiptanui stated that establishing a honey processing plant in Tarakwa Ward would not only boost the County’s economic activities but also generate employment opportunities for the residents.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Director Lagat added, “This project aligns with Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s vision of promoting agribusiness and facilitating market access for farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The plant will enable us to harness the full potential of the region’s honey production and contribute to the country’s overall economic growth,” he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The construction of the honey processing plant is expected to provide numerous benefits to the local community, including increased income for beekeepers, improved honey product quality, and enhanced market competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By having the processing equipment already available, the project is ready to move on to the next stage, which involves building the plant infrastructure and installing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
