The Department of Agriculture Agribusiness Livestock and Fisheries in partnership with Hand in Hand Eastern Africa will continue to put arms together in enhancing the agricultural sector in Uasin Gishu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the meeting that was organized by Hand in Hand Eastern Africa, Livestock Chief Officer Mr. Nixon Cheplong, highlighted the success of their collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Mr. Cheplong, the partnership between the Department of Agriculture and Hand in Hand Eastern Africa has been instrumental in improving the livelihoods of farmers in Uasin Gishu County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Through our joint efforts, we have successfully implemented various initiatives aimed at enhancing the agricultural sector, particularly in the livestock and poultry subsectors,” said Cheplong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, one of the major accomplishments emphasized was the effective management of diseases in the chicken value chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Officer mentioned that his department has adopted measures to prevent and control poultry which has seen a notable decline in chicken mortality rates, leading to enhanced productivity and profitability for farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cheplong mentioned that Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration has acknowledged the significance of empowering women in agriculture and has been actively assisting them through different training initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The women of Turbo, in particular, have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment in enhancing their poultry production by implementing the feed formulation techniques they acquired during the training,” added the CO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training has had a remarkable impact, as reported by the Turbo women who have witnessed a substantial increase in their poultry production as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the stakeholders expressed their gratitude to Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s administration for their continued support and commitment to the development of the agricultural sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, representatives of MESPT led by Alex Akidiva, presented the Green Employment in Agriculture Program (GEAP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the program, primarily concentrates on market access, financial access, improved productivity, and ensuring food safety in the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Alex also highlighted that the collaboration between MESPT and the County Government will enhance the poultry value chain to enhance market access and productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
