County Executive for ICT & Innovation, Eng. Lucy Ng’endo said the program adds muscle to Governor Jonathan Bii’s pillar of equipping youth with technological knowledge.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Chief Officer for ICT and Innovation, Felix Kimaru, said the program seeks to impart youth with necessary skills especially as the world goes digital and opportunities are shifting to online platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr Kimaru said the department through partners like Ajira Digital, will first train officers in grassroots ICT hubs, so they can train youth in their catchments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Opportunities in the digital space, including programming and many others, are shifting to online and we are focusing on training our youth on the skills as well as tapping into these jobs,” said the Chief Officer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n At the meeting, a contractor undertook a presentation on CCTV camera installation in Eldoret town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The County Government through the Department of ICT, looks to operationalize the cameras to assist in the flow of traffic as well as bolster security around town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Department also used the meeting to introduce new deputy directors; Dr Charles Nyabayo (Administration and Planning), Titus Kimaiyo (ICT), and Elizabeth Birgen (E-Government and Innovation).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The County Department of Information Communication Technology & Innovation is proposing to introduce innovation awards for outstanding technological advancements.
