In response to the escalating number of botched circumcisions at health facilities in the County, ward administrators and public health officers have been urged to visit traditional shrines, known as ‘menjo’, to address the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during a courtesy call in his office where he hosted a delegation from MTRH hospital, the County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Dr. Abraham Serem expressed deep concern regarding the high number of reported cases during this year’s initiation ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Serem emphasized the need to investigate the initiation process, focusing on the well-being and hygiene practices of the initiates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The visit to the shrines aims to better understand the traditional initiation procedures and identify potential areas for improvement to ensure the safety and well-being of those undergoing circumcision thus guiding on Department in implementing necessary measures to prevent further botched circumcisions,” said Dr. Serem.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He that the involvement of ward administrators and public health officers in this initiative demonstrates a concerted effort to address the issue comprehensively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his part, MTRH Senior Director of Planning Benjamin Tarus said that through these visits and subsequent discussions, effective measures can be introduced to reduce the occurrence of botched circumcisions and promote safe initiation practices in the County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinical Services Chief Officer Dr. Joyce Sang said that there is a need for more partnerships in the development of a policy that will see the initiates undergo successful circumcisions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
