The County Government of Uasin Gishu in partnership with Digital Green is actively demonstrating its commitment to equipping extension officers with the latest technological tools and knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of this initiative, the County has organized a comprehensive training program focused on the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Extension Agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the second day of training, the County trained Veterinary, Livestock, and Fisheries officers on the application of AI Extension Agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the officers, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Edward Sawe noted that the advanced technology allows individuals with access to a digital phone to receive real-time answers to their inquiries by providing convenient and timely assistance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Sawe commended the initiative by recognizing its potential as a valuable tool for officers to confidently address the concerns of farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the platform will provide immediate answers since AI enhances their ability to assist farmers effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The training program will offer farmers access to a wealth of agricultural information, including crop-specific details, pest and disease management strategies, and guidance on farm inputs and practices,” said Sawe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He added that it will not only enhance their yields but also contribute to sustainable farming practices and the overall growth of the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Officer Livestock Mr. Nixon Cheplong in a sentiment echoed by his Counterpart for Agriculture Mr Elphas Kiprop Kesio said that Governor Jonathan Bii-led administration aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of its extension services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cheplong said that the use of AI technology in agricultural extension services has several benefits that include; increased accessibility to information for farmers, especially those in remote areas who may have limited access to extension officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With the AI Extension Agent, farmers can obtain real-time answers to their inquiries, regardless of their location,” added Kesio.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Jacky Wang’ombe who led the team from Digital Green on her part said that AI Extension Agent is a mobile application that uses AI technology to provide real-time answers to farmers’ inquiries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Wang’ombe said that the platform serves as a virtual assistant, providing farmers with information on various aspects of agriculture, livestock and fisheries management<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By simply using their digital phones, farmers can access a wealth of knowledge and expertise, helping them make informed decisions,” said Wang’ombe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
