In an effort to promote agricultural entrepreneurship and improve farming practices, The County Government of Uasin Gishu through NAVCDP has initiated a comprehensive farmers registration program where the recently selected supervisors were trained at the Teachers Advisory Centre (TAC) centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday Agriculture Executive Edward Sawe noted that the objective of this initiative is to equip the supervisors with the necessary knowledge and skills required to effectively carry out their duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As part of this program, we have the capacity to build the supervisors who will soon be responsible for training 336 Agripreneurs,” says Sawe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also said that by imparting knowledge and skills to Agripreneurs, supervisors will stimulate the growth of agricultural entrepreneurship, leading to increased productivity, innovation and economic development in the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise that started last week saw the selection of over 380 staff who would be participating in the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the training program has entered its second phase where the selected staff members are being provided with in-depth knowledge and practical skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This phase aims to enhance supervisors’ understanding of various agricultural practices and methodologies, enabling them to deliver accurate information for the department,” adds Sawe<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The first phase saw the selection of qualified staff which entailed six senior supervisors, eight assistant ward-based supervisors, 29 ward-based supervisors and 336 Agripreneurs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Departmental Boss further expressed Governor Jonathan Bii’s commitment to improving the quality of service offered to residents across the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agriculture Chief Officer Elphas Kesio noted that the third phase of the program will involve a farmer registration exercise, where the trained staff will be officially designated as qualified information providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This registration process will further ensure that only competent individuals are authorized to disseminate agricultural information to the public, thereby enhancing the accuracy and reliability of the information delivered,”says Kesio<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On his part, Livestock Chief Officer Nixon Cheplong, the farmer registration program will not only enable better planning and resource allocation but also establish a direct line of communication between the government, farmers, and various agricultural stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
