The Governor said the County Government is also providing 18 motorised coffee pulping machines to strengthen processing at the local level, improve efficiency and enable farmers to retain more value from their produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Bii noted that the growing uptake of coffee among large-scale farmers in Uasin Gishu is a clear indication of the crop\u2019s potential in the county and a strong signal that Uasin Gishu can emerge as a leading coffee-producing region. He called on more farmers to embrace coffee as a long-term commercial enterprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Governor also urged men to support and encourage women to take up coffee farming, noting that women play a critical role in agricultural production and household economic empowerment. He said greater participation of women in the coffee value chain will help strengthen household incomes and spread the benefits of the emerging coffee economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea said the coffee programme is part of the wider development agenda being implemented under Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, noting that the Governor\u2019s tenure has focused on transforming residents\u2019 lives through investments across key sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Kapkea highlighted investments in agriculture, water, healthcare, education, Early Childhood Development, milk production and economic empowerment, saying the integrated approach is creating opportunities for farmers, families and communities while laying a stronger foundation for sustainable economic growth in Uasin Gishu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He added that supporting farmers goes beyond distributing seedlings, with the County Government complementing the programme through extension services, farmer training, cooperative development, processing and market access to ensure farmers fully benefit from the coffee value chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The launch was attended by Leader of Majority Julius Sang, Kapseret Ward MCA Moses Kebenei, Nominated MCA Pamela Ngetich, CECMs Dr. Sam Kotut (Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock and Fisheries), Janet Kurgat (Health), and Lucy Ngendo Njoroge (Education), and Chief Officer Agriculture Eng.
