Residents of Segero\/Barsombe Ward in Soy Sub-County are set to benefit from improved access to clean and reliable water following the handover of four water projects to the contractor on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projects: Chelabal Water Project, Emkwen Water Project, AIC Segero Primary Water Project and Tekeiyat Water Project, mark a major milestone in the implementation of Nguzo Number 7, which seeks to actualize the Mache Biko Beko campaign aimed at ensuring residents across Uasin Gishu County have access to clean and reliable water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projects are expected to commence shortly, beginning with Phase One intake works, followed by the distribution phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development has brought relief and excitement to residents, who have had to walk long distances for years in search of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the beneficiaries, Mama Mary, expressed her joy over the project, saying, \u201cNimefurahi sana. Nimebeba maji kwa miaka mingi kwa umbali mrefu sana mpaka mgongo ukawa unanisumbua. Sasa karibu nitakuwa nachota maji mlangoni kwangu.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The handover exercise was overseen by the area MCA, Nathan Malamoch, who urged residents to make the most of the water once the projects are completed. He encouraged them to venture into agricultural activities as a way of improving household incomes and their overall living standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engineers in charge of the projects, Eng. Francis Ndasaba and Eng. Celestine Kigen, called on residents to cooperate fully with the contractor to facilitate smooth implementation. They also assured the community that the projects would be executed to the required standards to guarantee their sustainability and long-term benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The four projects are part of more than 60 water projects earmarked for implementation across Uasin Gishu County, reflecting ongoing efforts to expand access to water and improve the livelihoods of residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also present during the exercise was the Assistant Director for Water Development, Abraham Metto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
