A renewed partnership between the County Government of Uasin Gishu and international development partners is set to unlock new opportunities in climate -smart agriculture, environmental conservation, healthcare and agribusiness following a high-level courtesy visit by officials from the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC), the Royal Danish Embassy and the Integrated Natural Resources Management Programme (INREMP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation was led by KCIC Chief Executive Officer Joseph Murabula, Elizabeth Matiola from the Royal Danish Embassy, and Liyayi Magotsi, INREMP Liaison Officer, and was received by Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the meeting, DG. Kapkea said partnerships with development organisations have become a cornerstone of the county’s agricultural transformation agenda, enabling farmers to access innovative technologies, climate-smart farming solutions and new economic opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with local and international partners to improve agricultural productivity, build resilience against climate change and enhance the livelihoods of farming communities across the county.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Kottut lauded KCIC for its steadfast partnership with Uasin Gishu over the past seven years, noting that the collaboration has delivered measurable results through the AgriBiz Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“More than 123 agribusiness enterprises in Uasin Gishu have benefited from grants, business incubation, technical support, market linkages and climate-smart technologies. The programme has strengthened local enterprises, created employment opportunities and increased household incomes, demonstrating the transformative impact of sustained partnerships,” said Dr. Kottut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the county looks forward to building on these achievements through continued collaboration with KCIC and other development partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KCIC Chief Executive Officer Joseph Murabula reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and climate-smart agriculture in Uasin Gishu through initiatives that enhance access to finance, strengthen agribusiness enterprises and improve farmers’ resilience. He noted that the ongoing SWIFT Programme will continue empowering women entrepreneurs and promoting inclusive economic growth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of the Royal Danish Embassy, Elizabeth Matiola said Denmark remains committed to supporting Kenya’s development agenda through investments in programmes such as FLLoCA, primary healthcare, climate innovation and sustainable agricultural development. She noted that strong partnerships with county governments are essential in delivering lasting socio-economic impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also accompanying the delegation was Liyayi Magotsi, INREMP Liaison Officer, who said the eight-year Integrated Natural Resources Management Programme (INREMP), scheduled for official launch on Friday, will complement ongoing efforts to restore degraded landscapes, strengthen natural resource management, enhance climate resilience and improve community livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The courtesy call underscored the growing confidence of international development partners in Uasin Gishu’s agricultural agenda and reaffirmed a shared commitment to building strategic partnerships that will drive sustainable agricultural growth, climate resilience and inclusive economic development for the benefit of farmers across the county.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
