The construction of a modern maternity wing at Moi’s Bridge Health Centre is set to begin after the official handover of the project site to a contractor. The facility is funded by the Safaricom Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The handover ceremony was presided over by the County Director of Preventive and Promotive Services, Laban Kiprop. The project is expected to be completed within 10 months and two weeks, at an estimated cost of KSh 65 million, excluding the cost of equipping the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed maternity wing will significantly expand the hospital’s capacity and improve maternal and newborn healthcare services in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Once complete, the facility will have a modern theatre, a Newborn Unit (NBU), inpatient wards, a kitchen, an ultrasound room, and other essential support services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will accommodate approximately 50 beds. Additional infrastructure will include a standby generator, a septic system, and covered walkways to enhance accessibility and service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Kiprop said the project reflects the county government’s commitment to expanding healthcare infrastructure and bringing quality services closer to the people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized the importance of teamwork in ensuring the successful implementation of the project, noting that the health department is grateful for the partnership supporting the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that Moisbridge Health Centre urgently needs improved facilities to meet the growing healthcare demands of the community and highlighted the critical role of the Department of Public Works in delivering quality construction projects. He further noted that the spirit of devolution is to ensure essential services reach wananchi efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was attended by several county officials and stakeholders, including Health Project Coordinator Gerry Luvai, Deputy Director Eng. John Mwenda, Architect, Joshua Suge, Principal Planning and Administration Officer, Kipchumba Sawe, Moisbridge Health Centre Facility In-charge, Geoffry Sugut, and the facility’s committee members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
