The implementation of key sports and health infrastructure projects in Uasin Gishu County has gained momentum, reinforcing the county\u2019s commitment to achieving the aspirations of the Nguzo Kumi development agenda championed by Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minisitry of Defence<\/strong> Principal Secretary, <\/strong>Dr. Patrick Mariru PhD CBS on Thursday inspected ongoing national government projects in Eldoret, including the Kipchoge Keino Stadium, the 64 Stadium, and the new 2,000-bed capacity facility at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH). The projects are expected to deliver far-reaching benefits to residents through improved sports development, healthcare access, employment creation, and economic growth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The PS was received by Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor H.E Evans Kapkea, accompanied by County Executive Committee Members Robert Kemei (Sports) and Janet Koech (Health), alongside other county and national government officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Kipchoge Keino Stadium, the team assessed the progress of the ongoing works, which are currently about 70 percent complete. Once finalized, the facility will provide a modern platform for athletes, youth talent development, and hosting of major sporting events, supporting Governor Bii\u2019s pillar on sports, youth empowerment, and talent development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upgraded stadium will strengthen Eldoret\u2019s position as a global athletics hub while creating opportunities for young people to nurture their skills, access professional training facilities, and benefit from sports-related enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation also visited the 64 Stadium, which had stalled but has now been handed over to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in partnership with the Ministry of Sports. Works are expected to resume within two weeks and be completed within three months.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The revival of the facility represents a renewed commitment to unlocking sports infrastructure across the county, providing residents with spaces for recreation, community activities, and youth empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team later inspected the construction of the new 2,000-bed capacity facility at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. The modern health infrastructure, expected to be completed by March next year, will significantly expand healthcare services for residents of Uasin Gishu, the North Rift region, and neighbouring areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facility aligns with the Governor\u2019s Nguzo Kumi pillar on quality healthcare and improved social services by increasing access to specialized treatment, reducing pressure on existing health facilities, and enhancing the capacity of MTRH to provide world-class medical services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the inspection, PS Mariru commended the progress of the projects and reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to completing transformative infrastructure that directly improves the lives of citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Governor Kapkea appreciated the continued collaboration between the national and county governments, noting that the projects will contribute to improved livelihoods, increased investment, job creation, and sustainable economic growth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
