A fresh push toward clean energy adoption is underway in Uasin Gishu County following a high-level stakeholder forum convened by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting, held yesterday, brought together EPRA officials and representatives from the County Department of Energy and Physical Planning to deliberate on the newly gazetted Energy (Solar Water Heating) Regulations, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum focused on raising awareness and strengthening institutional capacity to ensure smooth and effective implementation of the regulations at the county level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engagement is part of EPRA\u2019s broader strategy to deepen collaboration with county governments nationwide, a move seen as critical to the nationwide rollout of solar water heating systems.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Assistant Director Isaac Kurgat, who led the county\u2019s energy team, welcomed the EPRA delegation and pledged full support in implementing the regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized the county\u2019s commitment through key areas, including the approval of architectural and engineering designs, enforcement at the local level, public awareness campaigns, and close coordination with EPRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County officials present echoed this commitment, reaffirming their readiness to align with the clean energy agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum comes on the heels of another major boost for the region, after the National Treasury of Kenya approved a Sh3.45 billion public-private partnership project focused on solar energy and street lighting in Eldoret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
