The County Government of Uasin Gishu has reaffirmed its leadership in strengthening Kenya\u2019s HIV response following a high-level courtesy visit by the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) to the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Janet Kurgat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit marks the official engagement of the county in the ongoing Kenya National AIDS Spending Assessment (KNASA) 2026, a critical nationwide exercise being implemented in collaboration with key stakeholders to track and analyze HIV-related expenditure across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the meeting, the Kurgat welcomed the NSDCC delegation and underscored Uasin Gishu\u2019s commitment to transparency, accountability, and data-driven decision-making in the health sector. The county, he noted, recognizes the importance of evidence-based planning in sustaining gains made in HIV prevention, treatment, and care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KNASA 2026 is being conducted using the globally recognized National AIDS Spending Assessment methodology (NASA) framework, which systematically tracks financial flows from all sources\u2014including government, donors, and implementing partners. The exercise will generate comprehensive data on how HIV resources are mobilized, allocated, and utilized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NSDCC team highlighted that the assessment comes at a pivotal moment as Kenya evaluates HIV expenditure trends spanning Financial Years 2020\/21 to 2023\/24. With global financing landscapes evolving and donor support gradually declining, there is increasing urgency for counties to strengthen domestic resource mobilization and ensure sustainability of HIV programs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Uasin Gishu was lauded for its proactive approach in supporting health financing reforms and aligning county priorities with national strategies. The county\u2019s collaboration in KNASA 2026 is expected to provide critical insights that will enhance planning efficiency, improve transparency, and optimize resource allocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe data generated through this exercise will not only strengthen county-level planning but also contribute to national policy direction as Kenya charts its HIV response beyond 2030,\u201d the NSDCC officials noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Findings from KNASA 2026 will feed into key national frameworks, including the Kenya AIDS Strategic Framework (KAISF), and inform future investment cases aimed at sustaining and accelerating progress in the fight against HIV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The courtesy visit deepens collaboration, enhances data sharing, and ensures that Uasin Gishu remains at the forefront of delivering resilient, responsive, and sustainable health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
