The County Government of Uasin Gishu, through the Department of Health (Preventive and Promotive), in collaboration with the Departments of Public Works and Fire and Disaster Management, mounted a swift and coordinated response following an emergency alert that River Sosiani had burst its banks, causing flooding in some Lower Elgon view homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A joint assessment team led by the Director of Preventive and Promotive Health, Mr. Laban Kiprop, Public Health Emergency Coordinator Ms. Margaret Korir, Mr. Fredrick Serem, the Assistant Director of Fire and Disaster Management, an Environment Officer, City of Eldoret officials and the Kenya Red Cross North Rift Director, Mr. Robert Githinji. The team visited the affected area to assess the situation and coordinate immediate interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the assessment, Mr Kiprop emphasized that the safety of residents remains the County\u2019s top priority and urged those living in vulnerable areas to relocate to safer areas as a precautionary measure.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The County Fire and Disaster Management team had earlier successfully evacuated 10 residents from high-risk areas, with no casualties reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the public have been advised to avoid River Sosiani and other flood-prone areas across the county to minimise the risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To enhance preparedness and response, the County Government, through the Department of Preventive and Promotive Health, has activated the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) to response mode, strengthening coordination for effective management of current and future emergencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
