His Excellency Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, on Monday, led the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the County Government of Uasin Gishu and SNV, a global development organisation, at the County Headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement formalises a strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating inclusive and sustainable development for residents of Uasin Gishu County, in line with the Governor\u2019s Nguzo Kumi development agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Bii reaffirmed his administration\u2019s commitment to working with international development partners to deliver people-centred development that uplifts livelihoods, strengthens food security, and expands economic opportunities for all residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Hon. Evans Kapkea noted that the partnership with SNV aligns directly with the Nguzo Kumi agenda, particularly in the areas of agricultural transformation, youth and women empowerment, climate resilience, and sustainable economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy leveraging international expertise alongside local leadership, we are ensuring that development reaches every resident of Uasin Gishu,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU establishes a structured framework for joint planning, implementation, and monitoring of programmes in key sectors, including inclusive entrepreneurship, regenerative agriculture, and renewable energy. For residents, this translates into improved access to skills, modern technologies, and sustainable income-generating opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In agriculture, SNV will work with 1,200 smallholder farmers organised under Farmer Field Schools (FFS) across the county. The farmers will adopt regenerative practices that improve soil health, boost productivity, enhance climate resilience, and strengthen market access, contributing directly to household incomes and county food security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Dr. Sam Kotut, emphasised that the collaboration supports the agricultural transformation pillar of Nguzo Kumi by empowering farmers with climate-smart skills and promoting sustainable land use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SNV Country Director, Ms. Rebecca Hallam, lauded the county\u2019s leadership, noting, \u201cThrough this MoU, SNV is committed to working alongside Uasin Gishu to strengthen farmer livelihoods, promote inclusive entrepreneurship, and scale sustainable solutions that leave no one behind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership builds on over a decade of collaboration between SNV and the county, reinforcing gender equity, youth inclusion, and sustainable livelihoods\u2014core pillars of the Nguzo Kumi development blueprint and the county\u2019s commitment to equitable growth for all residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
