The 98th Kenya Music and Cultural Festivals have officially been opened in Eldoret, hosted at Moi Girls’ High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a speech delivered on her behalf by the Director in the State Department for Culture, Arts and Heritage, Dr. Kiprob Lagat, Culture Cabinet Secretary Hanna Wendot Cheptumo described the annual event as a celebration of the country\u2019s extraordinary talents and cultural diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CS challenged participants to give their best, while urging invigilators to uphold the highest standards throughout the festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme is \u201cThreads of Culture, Weaves of Opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 22 counties are participating, with Uasin Gishu fielding 5,000 participants in various categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, who graced the opening ceremony, commended the Ministry of Culture for championing the preservation of culture through art and music.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis festival gives youth a platform to learn and embrace our rich cultural heritage,\u201d the Governor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He affirmed his administration\u2019s commitment to supporting the youth, noting that funds have been allocated for the Fanikisha programme and other initiatives. The Governor further urged young people to uphold cultural values and use their talents for collective progress rather than personal gain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

County Executive Committee Member for Culture, Eng. Lucy Ng’endo, stated that the county stands to benefit significantly from hosting the national event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe appreciate the support we have received from the Governor to facilitate planning for this event,\u201d she said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Chairman of the Kenya Music and Cultural Festivals, Patrick Ngere, reaffirmed that the festivals will continue to serve as a platform for nurturing talent and showcasing Kenya\u2019s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners in various categories will have the opportunity to present their items before President William Ruto at the Eldoret State Lodge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
