Uasin Gishu County has reaffirmed its commitment to equitable cancer care following a feedback meeting held under the Equity in Cancer Care Project, where Health Services County Executive Joseph Lagat underscored the power of partnerships in transforming health outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting attended by the Steering and Project Committee teams from Uasin Gishu County and Sweden\u2019s Region \u00d6sterg\u00f6tland, provided a platform to review progress made so far and chart new strategies to bridge gaps in cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lagat commended the partnership as a game-changer in the county\u2019s health sector, noting that the collaboration has continued to inject new knowledge, innovation, and capacity-building opportunities into local cancer care initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis partnership has opened doors for our teams to learn, exchange ideas, and strengthen systems that support equitable cancer services. We are seeing real progress, and together, we are moving closer to a future where every resident regardless of background can access quality cancer care,\u201d said Lagat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promotive and Preventive Health Chief Officer Dr Paul Wangwe further emphasized the importance of continuous learning and feedback, adding that such engagements ensure that both counties remain aligned in tackling disparities in cancer care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Through the joint project, Uasin Gishu has been able to improve screening outreach, enhance diagnostic processes, and build stronger community awareness programs,”said Dr Wangwe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Majority Leader Hon Julius Sang highlighted the need to have policies inorder to intensify cancer screening at community health outreaches, expanded training programs for health workers, and strengthened data systems to guide targeted interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Equity in Cancer Care Project enters its next phase, both partners reaffirmed their dedication to scaling up initiatives that promote prevention, early detection, and equal access to lifesaving services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
