The County Executive Committee Member for Devolution, Administration, Public Service Management, Partnerships, Liaison, and Linkages, Janet Kurgat, laid out a clear and compelling vision for departmental performance and staff conduct. Addressing staff from across the department, CECM Kurgat emphasized professionalism, integrity, and teamwork as key pillars of effective service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTime management is key,\u201d she stated firmly, urging staff to uphold punctuality and discipline in all their assignments. She further encouraged a culture of official and smart dressing, noting that first impressions reflect the seriousness and dignity of public service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Underscoring the value of teamwork, CECM Kurgat highlighted the need for staff to support one another, develop role models within the workplace, and treat each other with respect and dignity. \u201cWe must be each other\u2019s keeper,\u201d she said, calling on staff to foster a community of care within and beyond the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Integrity featured prominently in her remarks. She stressed the importance of confidentiality when handling government documents, urging staff to uphold trust and ethics in all their duties. Proper etiquette and professional behavior, she noted, remain non-negotiable standards for public servants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a call to action for the communication section, Kurgat challenged the team to strengthen dissemination of information to stakeholders in order to enhance the County\u2019s image. \u201cLet our communication be clear, timely, and informative,\u201d she said, emphasizing its role in building public trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There departmental head also urged all sections to fully embrace performance contracting, noting that this strategic tool for accountability cascades from H.E. the Governor to every level of service delivery. By mainstreaming performance contracts, she believes the county can achieve greater efficiency and responsiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On matters of development, CECM Kurgat expressed strong support for the Affordable Housing Program, encouraging staff to invest in the initiative as both a personal and communal priority. She further emphasized financial preparedness and planning for the future. \u201cjoin chamas, save diligently, and invest in cash crops like coffee. Tupande kahawa,\u201d she urged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personal and spiritual development also featured in her address. She reminded staff of their roles as ambassadors of the Nguzo Kumi values and encouraged them to serve the Lord diligently, attend monthly prayers held every first Tuesday, and nurture their families with love and close connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurgat urged staff to view her not merely as a boss, but also as \u201ca sister, mother, sister in Christ, friend, or neighbour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She concluded by encouraging all staff to advance their education through institutions such as the Open University, and to work hard both at the office and at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur political father is H.E. Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, and as his team, let us carry this mandate with pride, humility, and excellence,\u201d she affirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
