In a landmark initiative to tackle youth unemployment and bridge the skills gap among graduates, Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii has unveiled a KSh100 million internship programme targeting recent university graduates across the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the 2025\/2026 performance contract signing and the swearing-in ceremony of two new ministers, Governor Dr. Bii emphasized the vital role of young people in shaping the future, calling for proactive investment in their growth and empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur youth are an asset to be empowered. They are not just the leaders of tomorrow but change-makers of today. We must engage them, protect them, and equip them to lead,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The newly launched internship programme will place fresh graduates in various county government departments, offering hands-on experience, skill development, mentorship, and career exposure. The initiative is part of the Governor\u2019s broader commitment to building a results-driven, inclusive administration that empowers communities from the grassroots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Dr. Bii reiterated his administration\u2019s focus on transparency, accountability, and tangible service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis government is about service that is visible and transformative. Every household should benefit, and every village must feel the touch of development,\u201d he affirmed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He further stressed the need to institutionalize integrity at all levels of leadership. From County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) to Chief Officers and Directors, all staff will be held accountable through strict adherence to performance contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, County Secretary Philip Meli congratulated the newly appointed CECMs and urged teamwork and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The County Executive Committee Member for Public Service Management, Janet Kurgat, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her and pledged to champion efficient, humble service delivery while fostering a positive work environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
