In a major step towards fulfilling Nguzo Number 7 of his development blueprint, Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Dr. Jonathan Bii has delivered on his promise to expand access to clean and reliable water, ensuring that 60% of households in the county now enjoy piped water at their doorstep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chepng’oror Dam in Ainabkoi Sub-County underwent a successful desilting exercise covering approximately four acres. Water from the dam, whose upstream catchment lies within a forested area, has now been piped to serve more than 1,500 residents in the surrounding community an achievement hailed as a key milestone in the county\u2019s water access agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To strengthen storage and distribution, the area is supported by two major facilities: the Tulwanin Tank with a capacity of 150m\u00b3 and the Chepngoror masonry tank, which holds 100m\u00b3. The project also incorporates two existing solar-powered water systems, underscoring the county\u2019s commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly solutions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Pipeline extensions are also underway to increase the number of households benefiting from this vital resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during a site visit, Chief Officer for Water Elijah Koech commended the desilting exercise and reaffirmed the county\u2019s commitment to maximizing the potential of its water infrastructure. He noted that Chepng’oror is just one of more than 300 dams across Uasin Gishu County, many of which are scheduled for similar upgrades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis project exemplifies the Governor\u2019s vision under Nguzo Number 7. Access to clean water is not just a basic right it is the foundation for better health, agriculture, and economic empowerment,\u201d Koech said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Local resident Mr. Johnston Tenai expressed gratitude to the county administration, praising the Governor for keeping his word. \u201cWe used to struggle for water, especially during dry spells. Now, water flows right to our homes. This is a huge relief for our families,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director of Water Charles Tunoi, alongside county engineers from the water and roads departments, also visited the site to assess progress and ensure smooth implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
