To restore order across all bus parks in the county, the County Government of Uasin Gishu, through the Department of Cooperatives, has stepped up mandatory measures. These include requiring uniforms and reflectors for drivers and touts, barring unauthorized personnel from operating businesses within the stages, among other directives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on Thursday during a consultative meeting with matatu sacco leadership drawn from Sosiani, Fims, and Shakahola bus parks, Chief Officer for Cooperatives, Elphas Kesio emphasized the county government\u2019s commitment to streamlining the sector\u2019s operations for greater efficiency and effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis sector is one of our key revenue streams, and we must ensure that, apart from generating revenue, it complies with all laid regulations, including traffic rules,\u201d said Kesio.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

While responding to some of the concerns raised, Kesio reiterated the administration\u2019s support in ensuring operators discharge their duties in an orderly manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Officer for Administration, Ambrose Tarus, added: \u201cWe will not allow the sale of alcohol or certain foodstuffs within the stages because this creates disturbances and unnecessary obstructions for both passengers and vehicles.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On their part, matatu leaders present lauded the county government for its good working relationship with them.
