In a bold move to future-proof healthcare, the County Government of Uasin Gishu through a partnership with Moi University\u2019s Africa Health Collaborative Project and the Mastercard Foundation is ramping up efforts to digitize health services under the ambitious Health Ecosystem Pillar initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a benchmarking tour of Maragua Sub-County Hospital in Murang\u2019a County, a high-powered delegation from Uasin Gishu, Moi University, and AMPATH witnessed firsthand the digital innovations that are transforming community healthcare in real time. Among the standout features was a fully operational dialysis truck a mobile lifeline delivering life-saving care directly to rural patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBenchmarking isn\u2019t just a courtesy visit; it\u2019s a learning tool,\u201d said Dr. Paul Wangwe, Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health. \u201cToday, counties must learn from each other if we are to build a truly resilient and inclusive health system. Our visit to Maragua confirms that we are on the right track.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Murang\u2019a model impressed the delegation with its robust community referral network and mobile dialysis truck system, both of which demonstrated the power of decentralized, patient-centered care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back home, Uasin Gishu is preparing to pilot digital health systems in Kesses and Ainabkoi sub-counties. Powered by the Africa Health Collaborative Project, this digital shift aims to enhance data-driven decision-making, streamline real-time reporting, and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis collaboration isn\u2019t about competition it\u2019s about building a culture of excellence,\u201d said Jacky Sitienei of Moi University. \u201cWhat we\u2019ve seen today confirms that peer learning and inter-county benchmarking can unlock scalable, sustainable healthcare models.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The digitization drive is more than a tech upgrade; it\u2019s a reimagining of healthcare access, equity, and impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Africa Health Collaborative Project and the Mastercard Foundation steering the transformation, Uasin Gishu\u2019s healthcare journey is well on its way to becoming a national model starting with learning from the best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
