Residents of Kapchemaget Village in Tapsagoi Ward, Turbo Sub-county, are celebrating a major milestone as electricity has finally reached their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long-awaited Kapchemaget electrification project has been completed under the Stima Mashinani Matching Fund, in partnership with the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With over 100 households now connected to the national grid, the project marks a transformative moment for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative, part of the broader Nguzo Kumi development agenda \u2014 particularly No.7 \u2014 aims to raise electricity connectivity in the region from 65% to an ambitious 95%\u2014a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

As part of Phase 1 of the Stima Mashinani initiative, six projects have been rolled out, with 90% of the work already completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim led a delegation of county and REREC officials in inspecting ongoing works at Lelmokwo Village in Kesses Sub-county, followed by the official commissioning of the Kapchemaget project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, Governor Bii said, \u201cNow that electricity is here, let us use it to change our livelihoods. I want all residents of Uasin Gishu to embrace development and improve their living standards.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Engineer Jonah Kosgei from REREC emphasized the economic potential of electrification: \u201cLet us use this opportunity for socio-economic transformation. Start small businesses\u2014open salons, barber shops, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in attendance were Deputy Governor Hon. Evans Kapkea, Tapsagoi Ward MCA Nicholas Bitok, CECM for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Energy Mr. Anthony Sitienei, Chief Officer Mr. Mark Some, and Director of Energy Dr. Silas Kering. These senior officials echoed the governor\u2019s call to harness electricity for local development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The technical team, led by Dr. Silas Letting and Engineer Roselyn Sugut, reaffirmed their commitment to completing Phase 1 and commissioning all remaining projects as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The joy among residents was palpable. Salina Yego, a resident of Kapchemaget, shared her excitement: \u201cWe\u2019ve lived in darkness for so long\u2014now we have light. Thank you, Governor!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Phase 1 nearing completion, plans and funding are already in place for Phase 2, which will extend electricity access to even more households, further enhancing living standards across the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
