The County Government of Uasin Gishu has taken a major step forward in strengthening its health sector under the second pillar of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii\u2019s Nguzo Kumi blueprint, which prioritizes human resources for health. The initiative seeks to enhance the motivation and proper placement of healthcare workers, ensuring residents receive professional and compassionate care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a bold move to align with this vision, over 100 healthcare providers underwent specialized training focused on oral health promotion. The program, supported by Colgate Palmolive, aims to instill early oral hygiene habits, especially among young children and mothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting Director of Health Services, Dr. Wenseslaus Kuria, emphasized the importance of equipping nurses with the skills to educate patients about oral health and facilitate timely referrals to dental specialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet us move away from the outdated tooth uprooting culture and instead focus on preventive care to ensure our children\u2019s teeth grow properly aligned,\u201d said Dr. Kuria.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Milcah Okwany, the Director of Planning in Health, hailed the training as a milestone in oral health awareness. She noted that the initiative has already reached learners in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and lower primary classes, helping embed lifelong dental hygiene habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
