The County Government of Uasin Gishu, in partnership with AMPATH Uzima, on Monday marked Mother\u2019s Day in a special celebration for expectant women and young mothers at Huruma Sub-County Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vibrant event, filled with heartfelt tributes to mothers, also served as a powerful platform for maternal health awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sylvia Kimtai, PMTCT Coordinator, took the lead in sensitizing mothers on mental health during pregnancy, emphasizing that many women silently struggle to understand themselves during the emotional and physical changes of pregnancy, therefore highlighting the importance of guidance, emotional support, and access to health services throughout the journey to motherhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMental health is often overlooked, yet it\u2019s a major part of a mother\u2019s well-being,\u201d Kimtai said. \u201cWe want every woman to know she is not alone, and help is always available.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Representing AMPATH Uzima, Clare Manana and Isaac Kirui urged the mothers to prioritize antenatal care visits. They stressed that regular checkups are crucial in detecting and preventing infections that could affect fetal development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re calling on all mothers to make antenatal care a priority because it is not just for their health, but to give their babies the best possible start in life,\u201d said Manana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
