The County Government of Uasin Gishu, under the visionary leadership of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, has intensified its crackdown on unhygienic eateries in a bold move to safeguard public health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the second day of the operation, 18 staff members from various non-compliant food establishments were arrested for flouting hygiene regulations. The sweeping crackdown is part of a wider county initiative aimed at promoting clean and safe food handling practices across all eateries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preventive and Promotive Health Chief Officer, Dr. Paul Wangwe led the exercise where he explained the rigorous screening process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Upon arrival, our team verifies the authenticity of medical certificates presented by food handlers. Those without valid certification or those found with suspicious documentation are immediately flagged for further action,” said Dr. Wangwe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He added that individuals found to be non-compliant or unwilling to comply are processed and booked to appear before a court of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is not a witch hunt. It’s a necessary step to ensure our residents are not exposed to foodborne illnesses,” he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The county has vowed to sustain the operation and expand its reach to ensure that all food businesses prioritize hygiene and adhere to the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the crackdown continues, Deputy Director of Public Health Laban Kiprop has called on the residents to prioritize patronizing establishments that observe proper hygiene protocols, saying that public health is a shared responsibility and Uasin Gishu is leading by example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
