The County Government of Uasin Gishu is working towards the launch of a milk program dubbed “Maziwa ni School Fees<\/strong>” that is set to see dairy farmers in various FCS’s pay their children’s school fees using milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program slated to take place in Tuiyo Farmers Cooperative Society at the end of this month not only aims to strengthen cooperative societies through increased milk production but also enables students to continuously learn without interruption due to school fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative which will be the only one in the county is also set to reduce school dropouts as well as create economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Wycliffe Oparanya, Co-ops have the potential to impact positively various economies lauding the county for coming up with the ‘brilliant’ program.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“We had discussions with Governor Jonathan Bii on this program and I realized that he has his cooperators at heart. I also want other cooperatives and counties to follow this noble idea of supporting children in schools” said Oparanya<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will also see farmers trained on various production mechanisms including financial literacy, and quality animal feeds among other training components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already, Tuiyo FCS pays school fees for at least 34 students from 22 schools across the county who have been onboarded into the program.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
