As part of the Kenya Kwanza Bottom-Up Economic Agenda, Uasin Gishu County Veterinary Directorate, in collaboration with the Kenya Leather Development Council, has entered the second day of capacity-building exercises aimed at enhancing the skills of meat inspectors, butchers, transporters, and hide and skin traders at the Ngeria Junction Slaughterhouse in Kesses Sub-County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative, aligned with President William Ruto’s Big Four Agenda, seeks to boost the manufacturing sector, particularly in leather development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The training was led by Mr. Otieno Ngumu, Director of the Kenya Leather Development Council, and Ms. Nora Kandie, Director of the Kenya Veterinary Services\u2019 Leather Directorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Mr. Nathan Koech, the County Leather Development Officer, who represented the county, emphasized the importance of promoting value addition in the leather sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Kandie highlighted the significance of using proper handling and processing methods, which can expand market opportunities. She reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that no hide or skin goes to waste.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
